when someone needs
more than a session.
nima is built for the quiet emergencies — the 2am spirals, the weight that won't lift, the feeling you can't name. it was designed for exactly this.
but nima is not a therapist. it is not a crisis line. it is not a substitute for human care when human care is what someone needs. this page explains how we think about that line — and what happens when someone reaches it.

what nima is — and isn't.
nima generates a real-time, voice-guided experience built from exactly what you're carrying in that moment. it listens. it composes. it responds. it is genuinely designed to meet people in difficult emotional states — not to give them a library and wish them luck.
but nima is not trained in clinical psychology. it is not supervised by licensed practitioners. it does not retain information between sessions in a way that enables continuity of care. it cannot call for help. it cannot alert anyone.
nima is a companion. not a clinician.
how nima reads what you share.
when you tell nima what you're feeling, that input passes through our psychographic intelligence engine before any session is generated. this system scores the emotional valence of what you've shared (from deeply distressed to grounded), and calculates emotional velocity — whether your state appears to be escalating, stabilizing, or recovering.
these signals shape the session before a single word is written. a spiraling state changes the technique, the pacing, the language, the depth of the grounding work. nima does not treat a crisis state like a mildly stressful afternoon.
this detection is cautious by design. it does not diagnose. it does not assume. it tilts the session toward what the emotional signal suggests the person actually needs.
what nima does when the signal is serious.
when the language someone uses suggests acute distress — despair, hopelessness, harm-directed thinking — nima's response changes in two ways.
first, the session itself shifts. the pacing slows. the technique moves toward stabilization and grounding rather than exploration or release. the voice becomes more present, more direct, more anchoring. the goal is no longer a beautiful experience — it is to help someone find the floor.
second, nima surfaces crisis resources within the experience. not as an interruption. not as a modal that dismisses the moment. as a presence — a gentle acknowledgment that this might be more than nima alone can hold, and that real human support exists and is reachable.
nima responds proportionally. difficult emotions and vulnerable moments are not crises. not every hard session is an emergency. we do not escalate lightly or reflexively — that would undermine trust and patronize the people nima is built to serve.
the threshold for surfacing crisis resources is calibrated carefully, and reviewed continuously as we learn from how nima is actually used.
what nima will never generate.
nima's session generation architecture is built with hard constraints that operate continuously, regardless of what a user inputs.
nima will never generate content that:
these are not aspirations — they are architectural constraints built into how nima generates every session.
the limits of what we can do.
we want to be honest about this.
nima cannot verify the state of the person using it. it cannot reach through a screen. it cannot call emergency services on someone's behalf. it cannot follow up after a session ends. the care it can offer is real — but it is bounded by what a generative audio experience can do.
if you are in immediate danger, or someone you care about is — please close this and call for human help. 911 in the US. your local emergency number. someone who can be physically present.
nima will be here when you come back. but right now, a person is what you need.

our safety protocols are not static. we review and refine them as nima is used, as language evolves, as the research on responsible AI in wellness settings develops.
we are guided by recognized suicide prevention best practices, digital safety standards, and the principle that the people most likely to use a product like nima are also the people most deserving of our care in designing it.
